Window Watchers
Medium: Acrylic on canvas panel
Size: 5X7 inches
Location: Big Thicket National Preserve, Texas
Year: 2025
Painted during my artist residency at Big Thicket National Preserve, this piece was inspired by a quiet nighttime moment outside a cabin window. Several frogs clung to the glass door while warm interior light spilled outward into the dark woods, creating an unusual layered view from outside looking in.
The painting leans into mood and observation more than detail — silhouettes on glass, reflections, dim light, and the strange stillness that settles into the preserve after dark. One of those small moments in the field that feels oddly cinematic when you stop long enough to notice it.
