Meet the Artist Behind the Field Notes
Izzy Anderson Pistor is a Texas-based artist whose work is rooted in en plein air painting—creating directly outdoors and on location as a way of recording what is seen and experienced in real time.
Her paintings function as a series of field notes, capturing specific moments shaped by light, weather, and place. Whether working in expansive desert landscapes, dense forests, or quiet waterways, her focus remains on observation and immediacy, allowing changing conditions to guide each piece.

Izzy's work has been shaped by residencies across a range of public lands and historic sites, including Homestead National Historical Park, Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, Desert National Wildlife Refuge, Big Thicket National Preserve, and Valles Caldera National Preserve. These experiences continue to inform both the subject matter and approach behind her paintings.
All paintings are original, one-of-a-kind works created on site.
Based in Central Texas.
