Painted outdoors in Llano during a paint out with the Outdoor Painters Society, this piece captures a quiet stretch of Hill Country road lined with bluebonnets beneath heavy spring clouds. Large green oaks anchor the scene while scattered wildflowers soften the foreground with loose color and texture.

The overcast light muted the landscape just enough to make the bluebonnets glow against the greens and grays of the day. Painted quickly on location from observation during Texas wildflower season.
