Not every mountain sunset explodes with color. This small study was painted during a quieter evening in Alta while attending an artist residency through Alta Community Enrichment. Heavy clouds settled over the valley while a thin band of warm light briefly appeared along the horizon before fading into blue-gray evening tones.

Painted outdoors from observation, this piece focuses less on drama and more on atmosphere — the cool air, distant haze, and the feeling of watching the day slowly disappear in the mountains.
